CORSO
NUMISTRANO (NICASTRO)
Among the changes carried out in urban Nicastro at the beginning of the 1900s, the one that stands out is the laying out of Corso Numistrano which came to function more and more as a middle class urban center. The old “road-plaza” of the 1800s definitely changed into the symbolic main road of Nicastro, as a commercial center and thoroughfare.
This role for the Corso came to be recognized in the Fascist period when they erected the building for the Rural Catholic Savings Bank. The building was aligned with the town hall so as to leave a portico that would free up the sidewalk for pedestrians.
