The
second phase (Swabian) is found in various CFs (particularly 2,
8. 9, and maybe 11) and has a differently layout within the castle,
while present to a great extent in most of the current perimeter.
The pentagonal shape of the fortress recalls other buildings of
the Federican period in southern Italy or in other European countries,
while the rest of the structure is also in the style of Swabian
castles, with its
towered enclosure designed in accordance with the profile of the
terrain. The walling is composed of local rock, built with a level
of specialization decisively higher with respect to the other walling
of the castle.
