Construction Phase 4
| The fourth phase is characterized
by an intervention with the objective of military reinforcement of
the whole complex, above all the southern flank, with the construction of towers CF 5 and CF 7. The latter is made up of an external partially circular tower, with an internal hexagonal base outlined with sharp cornered limestone blocks. One can still see the well preserved pavement of rough mortar. This phase also includes restoration of other structures, above all the access way, with the reconstruction or heavy restoration of the posterior part of tower CF 11, easily attributed to the Angevine period. Historical sources bear witness to restoration work ordered by Charles I. |
