Vincenzo Villella (Conflenti 1947) began as historical researcher in 1970 with an original thesis (at University of Naples)" Neapolitan Goldsmiths and silversmiths of '800 in the Calabrian Churches", published on the reviewCalabria Sconosciuta.

In the three volumes La Calabria della rassegnazione (1984, 1985, 1986) Villella has reconstructed the history of two dioceses (Nicastro e Martirano).In 1987 Villella has published another important essay L'albero della libertà, about sanfedismo (1799) and french occupation of Calabria (1806-1814). Another very interesting book is Lotte per la terra e il lavoro in Calabria, about the farmer's fightings for the soils. In 1997 Villella has published the essay Trono, altare e sette nella Calabria risorgimentale. This volume, based on ancient papers from borbonic and ecclestiastic archives, describes the diocese of Nicastro in 1700. Together with Giuseppe Masi and Antonio Bagnato, has published the volume Giovanni Nicotera nella storia italiana dell'Ottocento (Rubbettino 1999). Recently on the review Incontri Mediterranei has published some important essays: Formazione del clero e politica della Chiesa tra '700 e '800 in due diocesi della Calabria centrale, Nicastro e Martirano (a.I n.1 , 2000); La piana di S. Eufemia nel piano generale per la bonifica dei comprensori (a. I n. 2, 2000); Centrismo mediterraneo e decolonizzazione culturale (a. II n. 1-2, 2001). It is to his credit the discovering in Italy of Antonio Porchia (the author of "Voces"). About this important Italian-Argentine author he has published an essay by which Villella has obtained the first prize in "F. Mastroianni Award" in Platania. The essay is published on Incontri Mediterranei (a. III, n 1, 2002). He is a member of "Deputazione Storia Patria" Association. He is journalist since 1973 (Giornale di Calabria). From 1990 to 1996 he was the editor of the review Il Corriere calabrese, published in Lamezia Terme.
